Sac Business Journal notes Davis Roots opening

A business accelerator to support and keep startups in Davis opened Monday, and it already has two companies on board. Davis Roots, a collaboration between the city of Davis and the University of California Davis, is based in the Hunt-Boyer Mansion.Startups first are selected for the Davis Roots mentoring program, with access to experts in starting a business. Ventures then can be given space within the incubator at Davis Roots.

The first companies at Davis Roots are Barobo and Nuritas, both spinoffs from UC Davis work, according to the university. The space has enough room for four to six companies in the next few months – eventually Davis Roots wants to accommodate up to 10 companies.

Sac Bee heralds Davis Roots opening

A new small-business accelerator is taking root in Davis with the goal of growing local firms and keeping them in the city. Davis Roots is a nonprofit developed by a University of California, Davis, professor and a former city official.

Davis Roots opens doors — Davis Enterprise

The bond between the Davis business community and UC Davis got a bit stronger this week as Davis Roots, a nonprofit business accelerator, unveiled its new headquarters Monday at the Hunt-Boyer Mansion. 

About 40 to 50 community members — including local business owners, UC Davis faculty, students and city leaders — gathered on the front lawn of Davis Roots’ historic new home to witness the grand opening.

UC Davis program opens headquarters with two Davis startups
